Victoire is the French word for Vickie and for Victory, an easy choice for my kennel name. I fell in love with the breed after I acquired my first pet-qulality Bichon in 1988, and became interested in showing after attending one dog show. I'm hooked--can't imagine being without at least 2 Bichons living with me!
After several years of showing and practice, I found I could groom my show dogs. The highlight of my dog show career was in 2005 when my Bichon named Asti won Best in Show at our national Bichon specialty, handled and groomed by me.

The dog show world has enriched my life by introducing me to many incredible people from all walks of life and other countries, some of which have become good friends.
My major goals when breeding my Bichons is to improve the breed by breeding only Bichons that:
In addition to breeding and showing only Bichons since 1990, Vickie has been active as an advocate for Bichon health. She has published articles in the Bichon Frise Reporter and on the bichon health web site, which was developed by the BFCA Health Committee when she was the chairman. Also, Vickie writes a health column in the newsletter of the Bichon Frise Club of Canada.
Presentations to canine audiences:
Vickie has been practicing as a Registered Nurse for 40 years, currently employed as an ER nurse in a hospital in Minneapolis, with previous experience in ICU and flight nursing. She also runs a business involved in independent teaching of classes for nurses and legal nurse consulting, primarily helping attorneys with medical malpractice cases. Her medical knowledge and experience have augmented her ability to maintain health in her puppies and adult Bichons, to assist in birthing of puppies, and in recognizing health issues in her Bichons.
Vickie's medical knowledge and many years of nutrition research enable her to provide her Bichons with a high-quality diet of a combination of raw, cooked and some kibble (grain-free). In addition she adds supplements to their meals such as multiple vitamins, fish oil, and probiotics.
